Cars are measured in different standards – however, lately, the highest MPG cars are gaining so much attention. And this trend absolutely makes sense. It is a common fact that fuel prices are already rising in such a rate that it gets more expensive as time goes by.
And because of this, people are trying to be kinder to their own budgets by looking to own the highest MPG cars. But the question is which cars can be considered a part of this elite class? 1. Smart ForTwo- One of the smallest cars on the market today, this two-seat city car is gaining popularity for a lot of reasons – but mainly because of its standing as one of the highest MPG cars out there. Sure, it only has little space to offer, and it might actually perform anemic for some. But when it comes to fuel economy, only few cars, hybrid or otherwise, can touch it. It has attained its status as one of the highest MPG cars by managing an average of 34 MPG on the city and 47 MPG on the highway, high values for any standard, that’s for sure.
2. Toyota Prius- The legendary hybrid that has started the mass produced hybrid craze is still as good as ever. Now, entering its third generation, it still features world class fuel efficiency while getting rid of some of its quirks of yesteryear. As for its mileage, it is still as good as ever, still one of the highest MPG cars out there, while improving on its MPG numbers quite considerably. Its current numbers? The Prius puts out 35 miles per gallon on the city and 50 miles per gallon on the highway on average, enough to be arguably the best car out there when it comes to fuel efficiency.
3. Any Hybrid Car – On paper, any hybrid version of any car model should be one of the highest MPG cars around. This is because the electric motor operating in sync with the gas engine allows it to expand its mileage by at least 20 percent. There are hybrid versions coming out everywhere, ranging from compacts to SUVs, and each of them gained substantial improvement in fuel economy. Hybrid versions that are among the highest MPG cars include legends such as the Honda Civic and the Toyota Camry.
There are other cars that are not exactly the highest MPG cars in general, but these are some cars that have the highest MPG cars in their class. For sports cars, names such as the Honda Integra, the Mini Cooper, and the Mazda MX5 turn in stellar fuel mileage while being fun to drive.
And SUVs such as the Toyota RAV4 and the Mitsubishi Outlander at least negates some of the bad reputation that SUVs have as gas guzzlers, thanks to their respectable fuel efficiency numbers.
